The Heart Rhythm Institute is a world leader in the treatment of arrhythmias, a condition that affects millions of people and is the leading cause of death in the western world. With a 99 percent success rate, the HRI medical team has treated thousands of people who have traveled from every state and 16 countries for cutting-edge procedures that have changed their lives. HRI, Oklahoma's only non-profit organization providing private support exclusively for care, research and education on arrhythmias, is located in Oklahoma City in Children's Hospital at OU MEDICAL CENTER on the campus of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. HRI physicians serve as faculty for the OU College of Medicine.
Cardiologists Warren Jackman, M.D., and Ralph Lazzara, M.D. founded HRI in 2000 to focus on curing arrhythmias, a condition where the heart beats too fast, too slow or in an irregular rhythm. Since its inception HRI has been a leader in research, developing new technologies, increasing cure rates, and training medical professionals. More than 1,000 doctors and scientists have come to HRI for training in life-saving procedures, representing one-fifth of the physicians world-wide who provide medical treatments developed by HRI scientists at the OU Health Sciences Center.
The medical team at HRI is a unique combination of physicians, scientists, bio-engineers, nurses and technicians who have made HRI an international leader in patient care and research.
